Windsor, CT – Windsor Public Schools is thrilled to announce the resounding success of its 3rd Annual Back to School Block Party, held on August 22, 2024. With nearly 3,000 families, students, staff, community members, and volunteers in attendance, this year's event marked the largest turnout in its history.

The event, hosted between Sage Park Middle School and Windsor High School, transformed the area into a vibrant hub of excitement and community spirit. Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including free backpacks and school supplies for all students, free ice cream, bounce houses, and the opportunity to connect with over 30 local vendors. This year's Block Party was proudly sponsored by Amazon, whose partnership added an extra layer of excitement and support to the event.

Gianna Gill, Head of Communications and Partnerships for Windsor Public Schools, expressed her enthusiasm for the event's success, stating, “Windsor Public Schools is ecstatic to build relationships with our community partners like Amazon, who are committed to strategically partnering with us to provide an even more robust experience for our students and families. Beyond monetary assistance, Amazon is offering exposure to computer science fields through field experience tours and a special speaker series featuring Amazon leaders like Glendowlyn Thames (Economic Development). We also want to thank Jerome Smith, Head of Community Engagement - New England, for his commitment to elevating our initiatives and supporting our students in meaningful ways.”

JFK PTO came out to support and pass out over 800 backpacks and school supplies to Windsor students.
The Block Party not only provided essential resources for students as they prepare for the new school year but also strengthened the bonds between the schools and the Windsor community. The event highlighted the district's dedication to ensuring every student is equipped and ready for success, while also celebrating the collaborative spirit that makes Windsor a unique and thriving community.
