Dressed in hazmat suits, WHS students prepare for a real-world mission scenario during Mission Day.
Yesterday, Windsor High School students stepped into the boots of first responders and disaster relief specialists during Mission Day, an interactive event sponsored by the Army National Guard. Through hands-on experiences, students explored careers in disaster response, firefighting, allied health, and military service—immersing themselves in real-world scenarios that tested their problem-solving skills and teamwork.
WHS students immerse themselves in a cutting-edge fire simulation powered by AI, gaining hands-on emergency response experience.
From hazmat cleanup and wildfire suppression to virtual reality CPR and night vision confined space rescue, students engaged in high-energy simulations designed to challenge and inspire. The event also featured a downed firefighter evacuation exercise, allowing participants to experience the critical role of rescue operations firsthand.
Smiles all around! Ms. Gebhardt poses with WHS students after an exciting day of interactive training.
"Mission Day was an incredible opportunity for our students to engage with real-world emergency response scenarios. These experiences not only build their skills but also open their eyes to the many career paths in public service, healthcare, and the military. Seeing their enthusiasm and teamwork in action was inspiring!"
