Happy Black History Month!
At WPS it is our aim to highlight and celebrate the contributions and achievements of Black people within our curriculum at all times of the year. We believe that we're all made better by the diversity that exists within our community.
As February is the month designated to celebrate Black History and Culture in the United States we look forward to continuing this work and showcasing the many ways our school communities are uplifting and rejoicing in all that is the Black experience.
The national theme for 2022 as outlined by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History is Black Health and Wellness.
This theme acknowledges the legacy of not only Black scholars and medical practitioners in Western medicine, but also other ways of knowing (e.g., birthworkers, doulas, midwives, naturopaths, herbalists, etc.) throughout the African Diaspora.
Be sure to follow us @WPSWindsor to share in on the festivities as well as comment on how you celebrate Black History Month in your home! #weareWINdsor
